hello

I'm juanita, the maker behind juanitas handmade. 

I'm an Alaskan fiber artist with Minnesota roots. I have been making messes, ** I mean art, as long as I can remember. 

After receiving a sewing machine for Christmas 2005, I taught myself to sew tote bags. It was a fun creative outlet while attending college for landscape design.

Nearly 20 years later and I'm still making bags, and making things up as I go. I'm always excited to learn new skills, try out new materials, and doing my best to bring to life the ideas in my head that keep me up at night.

I create all of these one of a kind handmade goods at my home studio in Kasilof Alaska, where I reside with my husband, our five children.
